FROM THE LEAGUES OF LEGAL LEGACY TO THE LEGACY OF LAW FOR ALL

The Journey of Conformite Legal: A Law startup for empowering justice and awareness among all.

It’s often that we say to our dear ones not to go by the name. But rarely do we believe in that. We believe in what we see and what is shown to us on the surface. No one has the time to dig deep into any matter before forming an opinion about it in the current electronic world. Same goes when we come to the context of law firms.

“GENERAL PERCEPTION: LAW FIRM= SIPHONING OF MONEY FROM CLIENTS + UNNECESSARY HARRASMENT OF THE ALREADY HARRASSED.”

This is instantaneous and this opinion is the main reason why the common man avoids legal matters as much as possible, even though there is an immense need of it. There is a real need to establish a transparent and free legal advisory system for the upliftment of the distressed. There is also a necessity to inform people of their basic legal rights through awareness campaigns and workshops. This is the exact point where Conformite Legal, a young and motivated group of budding lawyers and professionals come in.

Conformite Legal was started just some months ago by three young Law graduates, Nikhil Dhawan, Madhuri Bakshi & Anmol Bakshi. Nikhil and Anmol have just completed their Bachelors in Law while Madhuri has done her Masters in this field. Madhuri has been practicing law as an advocate, primarily dealing with cases pertaining to women safety and empowerment. She has fought for the rights of many women entangled in cases of harassment, domestic violence, dowry, etc. Apart from that, she also has been a teacher of legal studies before being a part of this startup. Nikhil on the other hand has been the president of an NGO that provides support and works for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society on legal fronts. Anmol has the experience of making startups work as he had been the founder of “bookege.com”, a website for the buying or selling of college books. The trio, thus make a great combination for the working of the idea of helping the cause of the common man via legal terms. All of them are well versed in their domains of law and have previous experiences on how to go about the problems faced by the society at large.

Since its inception, Conformite Legal has been a front-runner in organizing workshops and awareness campaigns across schools and colleges of Delhi-NCR on the common legal issues that we face in our day to day lives. These events were a great success as there hadn’t been anything of this sort before. To quote co-founder Anmol, “After organizing such events, we realized that students who grow up to be budding professionals in their respective fields need Legal guidance and knowledge. This is the point where we felt the need to start up this company on a large scale to work with newly built firms in establishing a law friendly atmosphere.”

The founders say that not even 1% of the startups that were formed in the region were complying with the 'Protection of Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace Act, 2013'. This act clearly mentions the formation of a committee for readdressing such issues and the monthly conduction of awareness sessions against such crimes. The framework was not being followed as there was no guidance from any legal firm on the same to the new companies. So when Confirmite Legal approached a few of these startups, the response was highly positive. The founders say that “We started getting calls from various startups to manage such legal compliances on their behalf within six months of our inception.”

Confirmite Legal hasn’t just taken up cases of profit from startups. They have fought for the buyer rights of the ill-fated Amrapali and Jaypee group projects. They helped the buyers in filing their drafts of claim against these big houses. Anmol particularly dealt with this case as he has a strong background in domains of bankruptcy and insolvency. He says that, Law is something that is subjected to change now and then. All these years the innovations brought about in this sector are very less so anyone who responds to the changes and brings new Innovations would surely excel in this field." He says that this is the main mantra behind the success of his startup. The good work got a lot of appreciation from the common consumers and thus got a front page tag in the Business Line of the Hindu.

The company believes that Law is a necessity for all and no one should be deprived of it. They further go on to say that just because no one raises an issue doesn’t mean that a problem isn’t there. They take cognizance of recent legal happenings around and act for a positive legal change in that sector. Recently they have started an initiative to check the legal frameworks of the schools across Delhi-NCR to ensure that they are safe for the children.

The founders list that their USP lies in the fact that they are unique and true to their cause. They have a policy of making their clients feel that they are sharing their problems with friends rather than attorneys. They connect and work at the ground level. The have very low charges for the work that they do. “We are Dynamic. We adapt to the situations very fast”, say the founders. Maybe these are the reasons behind their success story in such a short span of time.

The founders claim that their immediate future strategy is to prove their existence for the society at a larger scale. They want to become acceptable for all classes irrespective of the type of legal framework needed. The company is expecting to double is current workforce by the end of this year. It has targets to expand its outreach to people as well as build a legal connect within all possible regions in Delhi-NCR.The founders claim that their immediate future strategy is to prove their existence for the society at a larger scale. Conformite legal has really shown us all a new path in direction of creating a law friendly environment. The concept has been great, the response has been overwhelming and it’s just a matter of time as well as patience to see the unfolding of a new era of legal services in the country.
